IPFINITY’s DATA PRIVACY COMPLIANCE STATEMENT
Legislations such as PIPEDA (Canada), PHIPA (Ontario), BC-PIPA, HIPAA (USA) and equivalent govern the protection of personally-identifying information as defined in the respective privacy acts (“Acts”).
Organizations that collect and store such information (“Custodians”) are governed by the applicable legislation(s) in their jurisdiction.
In its capacity as a CRTC Registered Telecommunications Provider (“Telecommunications Carrier”), IPFINITY does NOT act as a Custodian; as such these legislations do not apply to the telecommunication services provided by IPFINITY.
Should an IPFINITY customer act as a Custodian and cause IPFINITY to store data on its behalf that may contain personal information as defined in an applicable Act — such as voicemail, fax or the like — IPFINITY ensures that only the Custodian has access to or retrieval rights to such information, in order to facilitate the Custodian’s compliance with the Act.
Where data residency requirements are part of the Act, these are honoured by IPFINITY provided that the data residency requirement and jurisdiction(s) are specified by the Custodian customer at the time of ordering the service(s) from IPFINITY.
For its own use (i.e. not in its role as a Carrier), IPFINITY does collect a limited amount of personal information in the form of names, addresses and phone numbers belonging to individuals who work for, govern, or own the organizations that are IPFINITY’s clients. This information is collected and stored in accordance with the privacy laws of the applicable jurisdiction(s).
